Airball
Medical - Radiograph Measurement Calibration Marker (MCM)
Airball Medical
manufactures a lightweight “Radiograph Measurement Calibration Marker ” (MCM)
with distinct advantages when utilized on film x-rays, CR
(computerized radiography), and DR (direct radiography).
What’s a
Measurement Calibration Marker?
One factor
inherent in radiographs is the magnification factor (penumbra effect) of
various body parts relative to their distance from the imaging
surface. Many digital
plotting programs require a calibration device with known, accurate
dimensions to serve as a standard.
This calibration device must be radiopaque, easily placeable,
comfortable on the patient, and provide the consistent precise dimensions
that medical digital plotting software can use to compensate for the
intrinsic magnification produced on the image. The software, in turn, produces true 1:1 images by
applying appropriate algorithms to the calibration marker and body parts.

MCM Product Advantages
- Light Weight – 65% lighter than solid balls,
making it far less likely to displace due to patient movement, and
easy to attach.
- Easy Calibration - the highly accurate
dimensions of our calibration markers, combined with their precise
spherical shapes, permits exact calibrations from any angle. No need for special
positioning.
- 100% USA manufactured from 440A stainless
steel; which is the same material used in many dental and surgical
instruments.
- Disposable – Airball’s Measurement Calibration Marker
is so low cost that they can be disposed of after each patient use,
decreasing chances of cross infection between patients.
- High surface hardness - discouraging any
distortion of the dimensions when stored or mistakenly dropped.
- Attachment Options – can be purchased on an
adhesive dressing strip for easy patient attachment. These strips
are impermeable
to bacteria, water and body fluids and provides excellent adherence.
It attaches painlessly and securely to the skin, similar to a
band-aid, and offers easy removal.
- Identification - these balls can be laser
marked with their exact size, your company’s logo, serial numbers,
and/or any information you might need.
